Tesamorelin is a synthetic peptide analog of growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH). It is designed to stimulate the body’s natural production and release of growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland, which in turn may influence insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels.
Originally developed for clinical research, tesamorelin has been studied for its effects on body composition and metabolic markers.
Tesamorelin binds to GHRH receptors in the anterior pituitary, supporting the pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone. Unlike exogenous growth hormone, tesamorelin works upstream by encouraging the body’s own physiologic signaling pathways.
